Good companies as well as bad ones go out of business for a variety of reasons and this is why IWA have developed a scheme underwritten by FSA authorised insurers to protect you if the worst should happen.
Work carried out by IWA approved companies can have the benefit of Deposit Protection and an Insured Guarantee for up to 10 years.
REAL Assurance Scheme was set up to help companies provide high standards of service to consumers. The scheme is governed by specific bye laws which its members must undertake to abide by.
The Consumer Code is the centrepiece of the scheme, and is aimed at all those companies that have contact with domestic consumers.
The Code is used in conjunction with the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) which is the quality assurance mechanism that sets out the product accreditation standards for micro heat and power generators suitable for domestic use.
The MCS scheme has been developed by the Buildings Research Establishment (BRE). The standards set out are required by the UK Government’s Low Carbon Buildings Programme (LCBP) and the Scottish Government’s Community and Householder Renewables Initiative (SCHRI).
